As our Senior People & Capability (P&C) Advisor, you’ll play a crucial role in enhancing our people management strategies across our business units at the Adelaide Remand Centre.
While this is a standalone role supporting a single site of up to 100 Serco employees, you’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative national P&C team.
You'll provide strategic and operational guidance to the senior leadership team, people leaders and employees on all P&C matters, including investigations, disciplinary processes and contributing to EA negotiations.
As a Senior P&C Advisor, you'll make a positive impact by:
• HR Business Partnering: Providing high-quality advice and support on all HR aspects including absenteeism, recruitment, policies, and employee relations
• Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining influential leaderships, understanding business strategies to deliver tailored people management solutions
• Policy Compliance: Ensuring adherence to HR policies, procedures, and legal standards, effectively managing HR risks
• Casework Support: Assisting with employee casework below SMT level, handling disciplinaries, terminations and grievances
• Health & Wellbeing: Supporting wellbeing strategies and initiatives, liaising with relevant teams to promote a healthy workplace culture
• Cyclical HR Activities: Contributing to divisional and corporate HR initiatives to meet business objectives including training
• Administrative Support: Assisting the General Manager – P&C with the preparation of monthly reports, briefs, projects, communication for site and training documents.
Serco is a place for you
Your ideal skills & experience:
• Tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management or a related field (qualification gained, or working towards)
• Proven experience in HR advisory roles, particularly in industrial relations and unionised environments
• Expertise in handling workplace investigations, performance issues, and medical incapacity matters
• Strong knowledge of the Fair Work Act and Equal Employment Opportunity legislation
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
• The ability to deliver HR initiatives aligned with strategic business goals
• Confident working autonomously as the single P&C contact onsite and in collaboration with the national P&C team.
This role has no interaction with prisoners and no direct reports. We welcome expressions of interest from HR advisors (3–5 years) who are ready to step up—this is not a managerial role, but a chance to grow and influence in a dynamic environment.
