As a Nurse Practitioner MH/AOD  at Acacia Prison, you will provide advanced clinical assessment and intervention for patients, focusing on mental health or alcohol and other drug concerns. You will be required to manage complex needs and support patient care through specialised knowledge and treatment strategies in their respective areas. As an AOD Nurse Practitioner in our healthcare team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

- Lead and support the nursing team, providing clinical advice and guidance.

- Plan and adapt services in response to changing healthcare needs.

- Prescribe medications, order diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans.

- Educate patients on managing their health and medication use.

- Contribute to primary care delivery, reporting, and quality improvement activities.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) 

- Master of Nursing Practice and NMBA endorsement to provide care in an advanced and extended clinical role

- Ideally completed CPOP prescriber training (Methadone & Buprenorphine) and/or AMHP training

- Minimum 5 years' experience in mental health and/or drug and alcohol nursing

- Skilled in clinical assessment, care planning, regular review, and discharge planning across mental health and AOD settings
